The DoorEdge Defender was born out of my meticulous attention to detail—some might say perfectionism. During college, my roommates often teased me about how precisely I maintained my room. After college and following the events of 9/11, I pursued a career in the Air Force as a pilot. The Air Force’s core values—Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in All We Do—guided me throughout my 20 years of service and continue to define me today.

In 2019, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. My diagnosis meant I was no longer cleared to fly and sadly ended my aviation career. This challenge taught me resilience and showed me that my identity extends far beyond being a pilot. I pivoted professionally, securing a role as a simulator testing engineer and a side career in real estate.

With my new side career in real estate, I started to notice all the little imperfections that can be found around the home. One persistent issue was how interior doors and handles never stay clean—particularly around the handles. Repeated cleaning wore through the paint, revealing a common problem. This insight inspired me to develop a practical solution—a stylish, easy-to-clean cover for highly touched doors. Thus, the DoorEdge Defender was created and my mission shifted from defending our country to protecting homes—one door edge at a time.
